Buffalo Storage 1.6″ 60GB

Buffalo Technology is known for making mobile stuff that is always useful and easy to carry around, the latest case to prove this theory is the new portable hard-drive named NanoStation.

The drive only has 60GB of storage capacity, but on the other hand it only weights 56 grams and measures the same as 3 credit cards on top of each other. Compare this details with a normal hard-drive and you’ll certainly see the differences.

The Buffalo NanoStation comes with back-up and synchronisation software, their own security system known as SecureLockMobile, and is preloaded with mobile applications like a browser (Firefox) and an email client (Thunderbird)

Priced at $110 and available on November.

SanDisk Cruzer with Two-Factor Authentication

SanDisk announced a new 2-factor authentication technology stored in its Cruzer Enterprise line-up of USB Flash drives. The drive is managed by SanDisk’s CMC (Central Management and Control) server software, enabling IT departments to provision and monitor flash drives. The Cruzer drives also contain RSA SecurID software tokens for a two-phase authentication for remote/mobile network access.

The Cruzer drives offer additional security through the use of 256-bit AES encryption, as well as requiring users to create a complex password during the initial set-up. The flash drives are available in 1, 2, 4 and 8GB capacities with a claimed 24 MB/s read speed and write up to 20 MB/s.

eye-fi-wireless-card.jpgEye-Fi has finally launched its SD card that includes a WiFi connection, it is simply called a wireless memory card in case you are wondering. The new product has a built-in 802.11g Wi-Fi adapter, so you can easily (and wirelessly) transfer photos from the Eye-Fi, to a computer, be it PC or Mac, without the use of a USB cable or any other accessories - the card itself is enough.

For now, the Eye-Fi is only available in one version, which is the 2GB SD memory card, but more formats are expected in the future. As for the file formats, in case you want to upload data, this can only be done with JPEG files, but obviously other formats can be normally stored.

When iRiver teased the tech world with pictures of their new M10, many didn’t know what to make of it. Many wondered about the pictures that were released, including the purpose of that big dial placed right smack in front of the device. Fortunately iRiver didn’t make us wait long, at least for the official and presumably, preliminary specs of the M10, which has resurfaced and renamed as the iRiver NV.The NV is a GPS device with SIRF Star III, a DMB-T tuner and a PMP with a built-in FM tuner. The 7-inch widescreen display trumps other GPS devices on the market. Built-in DMB support and out-of-the-box compatibility with popular video formats like Divx, Xvid and H.264 further help distinguish it from the rest of the crowd crowd. There’s also not one, but two SD Card slots. It plays AVI (Divx, Xvid, MPEG-4 720×480 @ 30fps) /H.264 (352×288 @30fps), ASF, WMV, MPG, MPEG, DAT, MP3, WMA, OGG, AC3, BSAC.

As an additional feature, there’s an onboard 1.3 megapixel camera, which takes GPS tags and is pointed towards the front, while on the drivers side it becomes directional signal. But the bad news however, the NV may well be an exclusive to Asia, which is incredibly lame news to start the week with. As of the moment, it is currently shipping in Korea.

Buffalo has figured out a way to speed up its USB hard drives with what it’s calling Turbo USB, making its MiniStation (pictured above left) and DriveStation USB drives 60% faster than any others on the market. The company says this exclusive Turbo USB tech works equally well on Macs and PCs, and accelerates data transfers by “up to 60% faster than competing products.”Buffalo is shipping its MiniStation with Turbo USB at the end of August, priced at $99.99 for an 80GB drive, $119.99 for 120GB, $149.99 for 160GB, and $219.99 for the 250GB. The DriveStation with Turbo USB will be available in early September, priced at $129.99 for the 320GB drive, $169.99 for 500GB, $339.99 for 750GB, and $499.99 for 1TB.

The company didn’t say how it’s done, but If these drives can actually deliver that 60% data transfer speedup, this would be a great deal, because these prices are comparable to other drives with the same capacities.
