How would you like a smartphone with a GPS chip inside? You know, make all the calls you want, browse the internet and go GPS on it when you need it? It’s been done you say? How would you like a GPS with a phone chip inside? You know, stick it to your car, drive around, get precise direction and make a call or send a message when you need it? This is new… A GPS that’s also a phone! Mio’s Moov 380 GPS will let you make calls and send/receive SMS texts.

The Moov 380 GPS has just passed the FCC and besides regular FCC it has a SIM card slot and a SD card slot for storage. Does this mean that Mio have their first Moov phone? More good news for you, the Moov 380 will have data speeds between 2.5G and 3G.

Does this mean you can pack your Mio GPS with a pay as you go SIM card? You know, just in case you forget your cell phone at work? Unfortunately not. It seems that you would need a full voice plan from a wireless carrier to activate the Moov 380 phone. Which means that in case you aren’t planning to get a second voice plan you will have to share your SIM between your regular phone and the Moov 380.
