Ouch, Iphone 3G sneak peak

No, we don’t have the patience to wait till Monday. Nor does this Vodafone hired hand who decided to do some frisking of the 3G iPhone before the D-Day. Here’s what he discovered:

  • The back is gloss black.
  • The 4 models we have have a black skin wrapped around the back and glued into place. This is how they came from Apple.
  • All are running v2.0 of the firmware.
  • The bootloader hardware exploit is now fixed.
  • The phone is running V 04.41.01 modem software.
  • The phone is locked down like no phone has ever been. At this stage, you can’t jailbreak it and you can’t hardware unlock it.
  • There is an added icon for contacts. This allows you to go straight to your contacts without having to hit the Phone icon first.
  • The GPS works very well. It will attempt to obtain your position via WiFi first, cell tower second, then satellite third. The accuracy appears to be within 3 meters.
  • We were getting a data transfer of 140kbps on average. It droped down to 70 kbps when we went inside.
  • Apart from that, the “feel” is much the same. The phone is smaller (I would say 20 percent) and it is noticeable when you pick the unit up.

As with all things 3G iPhone, we will take this with a good-sized pinch of salt and wait till Monday, but that doesn’t stop us from bringing you more on the upcoming device, right?

LG Dare

LG Dare
Dare isn’t a perfume from LG although the name makes me think it could be. Dare is the Prada from LG and more specifically it’s the Prada version for Verizon Wireless.

The Dare hase been seen already. From what we could dig up, it’s a touchscreen smartphone, it has a 3.2 megapixels camera, it packs LG’s new UI and a decent browser.

By the 4th of July when LG’s Dare is coming out, so many people will own an iPhone that no one will bother that much to order a Dare. Let’s see what else LG has in mind after this Dare!

First, it was the Moto Z8, now comes the RAZR2 V9. The popular phone from Motorola is teaming up with Ferrari to produce an awesome phone design for the MOTO V9 Ferrari Edition. Motorola has introduced the Ferrari edition of the RAZR2 V9 that will feature the Ferrari theme, videos, ring tones, and wallpapers.

The Ferrari edition of the RAZR2 V9 packs standard V9 features such as a 240 x 320 QVGA 262K color display, internal antenna, 2 mega pixels camera with 8x digital zoom, and touch-sensitive music keys on the external display.

It also has 45MB end-user memory, 2GB memory with an optional microSD card, support for audio and video streaming, video capture and playback, and version 2.0 wireless Bluetooth technology with support for A2DP and AVRCP profiles.

Apart from Bluetooth, other connectivity options of the Ferrari edition include Micro USB, USB 2.0 full speed, 3G HSDPA, 3.6 Mbps wireless Broadband, and EDGE/GPRS. And also part of the added new features are messaging functions via MMS, email, SMS, and MotoSync.

Glofish X610, DX900 & X900

Glofiish
Best Choice of Computex Award 2008 goes to (drums rolling) E-TEN for their new Glofiish DX900. In case you weren’t able to fly in to Taipei to see it for yourself, you’re in luck as we’re just about to show you what this handset is all about.

The award went to E-TEN for the DX900 as this Glofiish is the first dual-SIM smartphone to support HSDPA and EDGE. As more and more people are opting for two sim cards and therefore two handsets (at least) E-TEN solves their problem. Pack your 2 SIMS in this baby without missing out on 3G speeds for your data and precious calls.

The DX900 offers both 3.5G (UMTS/HSDPA) where available and 2G (GSM/EDGE). GPS? Yes. WiFi? Yes. Any more questions? There’s a 3 megapixel auto-focus camera for quality pictures and an amazing high-resolution VGA display

E-TEN was busier than that. The Glofiish V900 brings mobile digital TV to anyone who’s constantly on the go but doesn’t want to miss any of their favorite news or shows. I would be careful with my eyes but then again, the V900 has ultra-sharp VGA and it will support DVB-T/H and T-DMB/DAB which translates into worldwide TV coverage.

The Glofiish X900 offers also high 3.5G UMTS/HSDPA which will boost your VoIP calls, and allows you to work with documents, web-pages, pictures and video on a clear VGA display.

Last but not least, we have the Glofiish X610, which will get your mobile mood going. E-TEN’s Glofiish X610 has a smart design, GPS support and the Windows Mobile 6.1 OS to be discovered. Don’t worry, the X900 and the DX900 both come with Windows Mobile 6.1 installed.

These four E-TEN new concepts, the X610, DX900, V900 and X900 have been officially launched. I’d choose the DX900 for its dual-SIM capability. Which one would you get?
