HP 2133 MiniPc

If you’re not making a cheap and tiny laptop to compete with the Asus Eee PC, what are you doing? Hewlett Packard’s forthcoming mininotebook will use Via processors (not Isiah, however) and start at $549, according to a spec sheet that Engadget got its hands on. The entry-level HP 2133 Mini-Note PC will use Linux (SuSE Enterprise) and have a 1.2GHz Via C7-M processor, 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, a 3-cell battery, and a 8.9-inch screen with a 1280×768 resolution. Another $50 nets you the same configuration with Windows Vista Home Basic. A $749 model serves up a faster 1.6GHz CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 7200rpm drive, a 6-cell battery, Bluetooth, and Vista Business. We’re not sure what to make of the “Regional” model listed, which costs $849 for a weaker configuration than the $749 unit.

Engadget reports the Mini-Note PC will hit on April 7.

Don’t pay too close attention to the weights and measures listed on the spec sheet; they appear to be for the system and the box in which it ships. It’s a safe bet that the HP 2133 will weigh less than 5.26 pounds. A friend of Crave has seen the Mini-Note and says it looks and feels much more expensive than it is–very sturdy and less toy-like than the Asus Eee PC. He also said it felt a bit heavier than he expected.

When news of the new generation of Asus Eee PC broke out, we thought it would have touch screen. For those wishing for one, it looks like it won’t be happening. Don’t despair though, because it appears that instead of a touch screen, the Asus Eee PC 900 is getting a multi-touch trackpad. Yep, the one that’s on MacBook Air. You can then fancy yourself using the wafer-thin spawn of Cupertino while actually on an Eee PC. The price of the Asus Eee PC 900 varies depending upon the location, with a May or June release date.

My Touch Keys: Real Tactile Keyboard for the iPhone

y%20Touch%20Keys.jpgSince the iPhone depends on its touch screen display completely for its keyboard, there are times when it becomes frustrating. Speed texters on normal cell phones would find it hard to adapt, while those used to the QWERTY keyboard still get a lot of typos due to the keyboard’s nature. My Touch Keys is a simple iPhone overlay which clings to your phone using static, acts as a screen protector, and has depressions on its surface so you can actually “feel” the letters on the touch screen keypad. My Touch Keys is totally transparent and doesn’t interfere with the other functionalities of your iPhone. This is perfect for those who use the iPhone primarily for sending messages and emails. You can get My Touch Keys on its official web site for US$7.99.

The Nokia 6300i, of course, is nothing more than a modified version of the Nokia 6300. The Nokia 6300i which Nokia has just announced integrates a mobile VoIP capability on the old affordable candybar phone. With the mobile VoIP capability, you can connect to wireless networks for some mobile internet browsing. The Nokia 6300i also has capacity to store 2,000 VoIP, home and cell phone numbers. And if you suffer from short-term memory loss, its dedicated VoIP and WLAN icons tell you whether you’re using GSM or VoIP network.
